Description

Mesterolone is an androgen steroid drug with mild anabolic and moderate androgenic activity. It is commonly used in bodybuilding during anabolic steroid cycles to address various concerns.

Proviron, or Mesterolone, increases androgen levels by binding to sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG), enhancing the effectiveness of the cycle. However, unlike tamoxifen, Mesterolone does not contribute to the restoration of testosterone secretion.

In fact, due to its high affinity for plasma binding proteins like SHBG, Mesterolone can potentiate the activity of other steroids by displacing a higher percentage into a free, unbound state. Among athletes, Mesterolone is primarily used to increase androgen levels during dieting or contest preparation. It also functions as an anti-estrogen by antagonizing the aromatase enzyme.

Mesterolone has been known to increase libido and erection with minimal suppression of testosterone levels. It is often used by athletes during post-cycle therapy (PCT) or in cases of failure expectation syndrome to boost sexual performance and enhance libido with few side effects.

If the use of Mesterolone causes priapism (prolonged painful erection), the dosage should be reduced or discontinued. Mesterolone is not converted to estrogen in the body and does not have significant estrogenic effects. As a result, the use of an anti-estrogen is unnecessary, as it is unlikely to induce gynecomastia, water retention, or other estrogen-related side effects.

Mesterolone is believed to act as an anti-aromatase, inhibiting or slowing down the conversion of steroids into estrogen. Although less pronounced, this effect is somewhat comparable to that of anastrozole.

Studies have shown that when taken in moderate doses (150 mg per day or less), Mesterolone has a minimal suppressive effect on gonadotropins and serum testosterone levels.

How to Use

For androgen insufficiency, Mesterolone is typically prescribed at an initial dose of 1 tablet (25 mg) two to three times per day. The dosage is later reduced to a maintenance dose of 1 tablet (25 mg) once or twice daily.

Among male athletes, the usual dosage ranges between 50 mg and 150 mg of Mesterolone per day, equivalent to two to six 25 mg tablets. The drug is typically used in cycles lasting 6-12 weeks, allowing sufficient time to observe the benefits of therapy.

To improve sperm quality and quantity, a dosage of 25-50 mg per day is recommended. Mesterolone compensates for the lack of androgen production, stimulates the development of male genital organs and secondary sexual characteristics, enhances libido and potency, exhibits anabolic properties, and promotes erythropoiesis.
