Description:
Trestolone (7alpha-methyl-19-nor testosterone, MENT) is a 19-nortestosterone derivative that was initially considered as a potential male contraceptive therapy due to its unique chemical properties. Unlike other compounds, trestolone cannot bind to 5alpha-reductase and does not convert to DHT, making it an ideal candidate for an androgen-based male contraceptive.
Trestolone has a theoretical anabolic ratio of 2300-650, making it significantly more anabolic (23 times) and androgenic (6.5 times) than testosterone. However, a study in rats revealed that trestolone's anabolic potency is 10 times greater than that of testosterone, while its suppressive effect on HTPA is 12 times stronger.
This compound's unique alpha-methyl group prevents conversion to DHT by sterically inhibiting the process. Nevertheless, trestolone can still undergo aromatization and exhibit androgen-dependent functions, making it effectively act like testosterone despite being a 19-nortestosterone derivative.
Trestolone demonstrates minimal affinity for progesterone and mineralocorticoid receptors, distinguishing it from other nandrolone derivatives. It is commonly used in medical treatments such as male contraception, rapid bone loss, benign prostatic hyperplasia, prostate cancer, primary hypogonadism, cachexia, sarcopenia, and male-pattern alopecia.
Effects:
- Extremely anabolic compound, 10 to 23 times more anabolic than testosterone
- Powerful for fat loss and muscle building
- Increase in strength and muscle mass
- Does not bind to SHBG (Sex Hormone-Binding Globulin)
- No conversion to DHT
- No significant increases in hematocrit or hemoglobin
- Rapid effects
- Elevated appetite
Side effects:
- Significant increase in systolic blood pressure
- Rapid estrogen conversion
- Dry throat
- Excessive sweating
- Upset stomach
- Diarrhea
- Heartburn
- Back acne
- Insomnia
- Night sweats
- Mood fluctuations
It is strongly recommended to use an aromatase inhibitor such as Arimidex or letrozole while taking trestolone.
Appetite is likely to be significantly elevated, and a slight increase in gym strength can be expected. To combat the conversion to 7a-methyl estradiol, it is advised to take 1.25mg of letrozole every other day.
